The tale of Pyramus and Thisbe, recounted in Ovid's Metamorphoses, holds immense power as a Roman story of forbidden love. These lovers defied fate through a small gap in a stone wall, an enduring symbol of their romance. My sculpture, an homage to Thisbe, embraces the potency of love. The original piece was carved in Italian Arabescato marble. The new quicksilver sculpture allows the form to vanish, leaving only the dominant negative space—the hole. Through this void, lives can be shared, emphasizing the profound connection it represents. It stands as a testament to love's enduring strength and its ability to conquer all.
