Statement

Queen Marie of Romania once wrote 'fame is such a fleeting and precarious allegiance."

I have never had the desire to display my talents as watercolor artist, graphic designer, illustrator, photographer, video director - cinematographer - editor for becoming famous. What motivates me is to use my array and diversity of talents/skills to make a contribution for empowering and enriching people's lives.
Like so many others, I know what it is like to be gifted with an abundant creative imagination while struggling to achieve environmental and economic stability. Yet, I am determined to walk along the life journey seeking fulfillment of my destiny.

All the genres and disciplines of art are created from both my esoteric and practical energies of spirituality, sacredness, and beauty of the mystical and mysterious.

I have been raised in the Middle Eastern realm of war, poverty, prejudice, betrayal. However, rather than allowing such negative actions to paralyze me on the treadmill of day - to-day survival skills, I have empowered and enriched myself by using my art to journey on the Cycle of Fulfillment.

Art is mystical, magical, mysterious, as is my life.

A Visual Journey
Artistically, war torn Gaza is not a creative arena for artists.
Distancing oneself from history and time has never been possible for Amjad Hilles. Yet, living in the darkness where electricity is often only available for two to three hours each day Amjad's innate buoyant love for colors propels him into spectrum's of artistic creations.
"I feel that within both soul and mind is a whirlwind of colors," Amjad says.
With a passion for watercolors, Hilles weaves into his paintings the interrelated elements of a character's deepest secrets.
"We all have secrets. Even though throughout my childhood adolescence, and young adulthood, I have lived through wars, my secrets are actually far more beautiful than haunting. I am an artist who sees the beauty of life's colors. Through colors, I can make my secrets visible through the characters I create."
Amjad studied Fine Arts at al-Aqsa University and Graphic Design At Gaza University and Gaza Training Center. He speaks Arabic, French, and English.
His goal is to travel to the United States, Canada and Europe to continue contributing his talents working with non-profit charities that combine art and humanitarianism towards enriching the lives of others, to pursue his studies in the arts, to visit museums and participate in art exhibitions.
As an artistic professional, I'm always looking for the next opportunity to translate what I experience into art. Since 2013, I've led a life fully devoted to the arts. It's no lie to say I live, breathe and dream of art.
