The pandemic had made all of us think about the air and spaces we share as humans. I had embraced this time to explore not only my relationship to myself, but also the layers of relationships I have with others. I realized our vital need to stay connected to each other. The political and social unrest then and now has fueled the energy of my application of mediums, building on layers, expressing which I have difficulty articulating into words. My current work has steered away from expressing current issues, now searching to find inner peace and bring colorful joy to it's viewers in these times of unrest. It's important for me to express joy and happiness and bring lightness to others.
ARTIST BI0
I began focusing on taking my artwork to a new level in the last five years after moving to Gulfport. I am currently working part-time at the Imagine Museum. I graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana where I found my artistic expression in painting and photography.
I am inspired by the abstract expressionists with their freedom of color, composition, and pushing the limits of possibility. I relate to their energy with today's current events which often influences the pieces I am working on. Working intuitively, I allow the piece to transform, like an evolving puzzle. I want the viewer to personally connect to my art if listening to music responding emotionally with their own interpretation.
My work is currently being shown at DRV Gallery in Gulfport, FL. I have shown work at Art Expo, St Pete Beach, and Brenda McMahon Gallery in Gulfport. I am a member of The St. Pete Arts Alliance, the Morean Arts Center, and Suntan Arts. I have been accepted to various juried shows including the Art Festival Beth-el, the Gulfport Fine Arts Festival, Art Jones Artist Studio Tours, PAVA's Cool Art Show, and the Warehouse Arts District Association. My work has also been accepted into juried shows at the Provincetown Art Association Museum in Provincetown, MA where I previously lived.
