A Latin history call to artists was the inspiration for a Mayan Warrior painting. She is from circa 700 and is known as a feared warrior, physician/bloodletter and some say she ruled over the city state of Naranjo, in the country today known as Guatemala. Her name glyph is in the bottom right corner. The massive headdress she would have worn as a ruler was made of the bright plumage from the quetzal bird. The feathers were iridescent green and the headdress of some measured 10 feet across. The animals and jaguar painting on her skin were to show she was endowed with the aspects of the animal. And the jaguar pelts and skin painting was reserved mainly for the rulers.
Tooled Pointillism is what I call my brand new style of painting with acrylics. Wood box panel is primed with a matte black gesso and I draw and then dot the picture. This is an original, one of a kind painting.
