Because I only started drawing again three years ago, I'm continually trying to hone my craft, discovering my strengths and weaknesses, and uncovering new predilections along the way. One such predilection is drawing fabrics and materials, such as denim, leather and knits. I love the challenge of capturing their familiar textures with a pencil and paper. I also love juxtaposing these tactile materials against something smooth, such as human skin.
In this piece, Canadian model Thierry Pepin is just barely wearing a faded, worn-in denim shirt, and I absolutely love how the weathered fabric contrasts with his exposed torso.
