Much like this work's title suggests, the markings were entirely intuitive. I first found myself doodling abstract designs in the margins of notepads whilst listening to lectures. I became curious about what said markings would look like on a three dimensional surface and decided to give it a try. This planter received an initial surface layer of pigmented slip that was then carved through using the sgraffito technique. After the bisque firing, the carvings were inlayed with white underglaze and then fired once more to the final temperature.
