This decorative cup was surfaced with pigmented slip initially and then adorned with an underglaze-soaked cheese cloth that was left to dry on the vessel. Once removed, the pattern left behind was accentuated with sgraffito carving techniques and then inlayed with underglaze. The bulk of the pattern resembles a large, isolated landmass with a few small islands off its' coast. While the landmass wraps around part of the cup, there is a large body of water that separates both coasts, waiting to be explored.
